Hi Jim. We've written you several Emails to answer your question but they've gone without a response.You had asked what it was we did not understand about 1496's lap times at the last race.#1496 lost her amber lite prior to launch and you started her 16 minutes late allowing time to repair the problem. #1496 was then afforded the opportunity to run solo,without dust,without traffic and without the inclussion of the 16 minute time delay.That first lap should have reflected the 16 minutes for the required maintenance. We don't see this as a judgement call but rather a basic rule of racing. Racers know that they are responsible to be on time and ready to race. A malfunctioning amber must be repaired the same as a dead battery or a flat tire.
Please include the 16 minute down time into the first lap for #1496. This affects the outcome of the race. Has Rhonda even been contacted or advised of our protest? Hey Rhonda !!! Are you out there? Please Email or call us at 909 8667341 RACERS !!! any comments or opinions??? Please feel free. Thank you,Jim Carl A J #1469

Any word on exact miles and laps?
|
|||||||||||
|
I saw on the facebook page a poll about starting 2 cars at a time since the pit area is limited to 35mph anyway. I am against this idea as drivers might be anxious to dart ahead and exceed the speed limit right before the end of the pit zone.

Congrats to Matt and Brian and all of the 923 team. Matt it was very cool running with you those first few miles. Giti Congrats to you and Dave on a solid run. I really faded those last two laps. I won't be trying to run Barstow by myself anymore. You guys set too fast of a pace for me to run that hard. Thanks to Stan Hignet for letting me beat him up for six Laps, my cousin Cathleen and her husband Chris, my friends, Will Michelle and Tony Duarte, and my family for supporting me. I would also like to thank the entire M.O.R.E. Organization for continuing to put on the best desert racing out there. Great job everyone.

Forgot to apologize to car 977. I was going for a pass on the left with a horn that was on the fritz. I thought a line was opening up for me, but I was wrong. Kinda got into the side of you guys. Didn't mean to seem so aggressive, I got myself committed and simply ran out of room. Sorry again.

Thanks Giti. The truth is my son Matt drove the first four laps and did a great job. Team 923 is very proud of him. He kept her all together and was very consistent. I jumped in for the last two laps with our tough as hell co-rider Jeremy Smeltzer ( rode all 6 laps ), and finished the race. Thanks again to M.O.R.E and everyone who helps us out there, especially Alan and Scott who are out there every time for us in any kind of weather. Couldn't and wouldn't ever leave the garage without having such great people out there.

Helpful tips to speed through registration and get to Tech faster tonight:
1. There are TWO forms: 1 is for your pit crew wrist bands AND another for all drivers and co-drivers to get banded. Have each member of your pit crew print and sign their names legibly, and put your vehicle# on the top. Driver of record prints, signs, dates and puts address on the bottom. Have this completed before you get in line. Don't send people to the timing trailer on race day for pit crew bands. 1a. Regarding the pit crew, you heard Ron mention at the Awards Ceremony that you should limit your pit crew to those people who work on the vehicle and/or help the driver/co-driver during the race. The pits are not for spectators. This stinks, I know, but it's the rules we have for now. 2. Have your checks made out (or cash ready). $500 Pro and $340 Sportsman. Know your fee and don't wait until you're at the registration table. 3. If you have any technical questions (i.e. which class is my vehicle in?) - find Ron or Jim or Art BEFORE you get in line. This should help get you through the line and over to Tech faster. See you tomorrow at the Drivers' meeting!! Should be a good race!!

Jim,
Do the course monitors need to attend tech or the driver's meeting beforehand? I'm sure that there will be some sort of form to sign or a deputization that needs to take place...
